Pawan: unfortunately we have not been very successful in raising support for the boy who has spent 11 years with an elderly lady who expired few weeks ago. As said earlier, except for Rs. 500 which was deposited at the time of opening a bank account, there is nothing to show in terms of saving. When we checked his account yesterday, there was only Rs. 98 in the account as the bank has deducted certain amount for not meeting the minimum saving of Rs. 1000. Even if he has worked as a house cleaner for that many years, his earning could be definitely more than that.
Today we received Rs. 30,000 in our account which we promptly delivered to him. Tonglen has kindly agreed to our request to admit him in their school after fulfilling certain requirements.
He now wants to go and meet his family in Bihar after a gap of 11 years. After that he wants to at least fulfill the wishes of the lady who looked after him for 11 years and that is to complete class XII. But he first wants to complete 49 days of customary rituals for the deceased.
