3rd July 2021 – Tibet Charity in collaboration with the HP State Pollution Control Board Dharamsala, organised a cleanliness drive where our staffs and students have volunteered to pick up plastic waste from the area below the temple of His Holiness. On the occasion of International Plastic bag free day, we cleaned the surroundings of temple road Mcleodganj and collected as many plastics as we could. We have also put up banners and distributed leaflets to enlighten the public about the hazardous effect of plastic waste to our environment.

Our Regional Director of HP State Pollution board also explained the value of environmental cleaning and how one should avoid using plastics in their day to day life. As plastics pollution has detrimental effect on the environment. Approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used on a global scale. India generates around 56 lakh tonnes of plastic waste annually. Hence, one should dispose plastic in a proper manner in which environment is not affected. We thank Regional Director of HP State Pollution Board and his staff for participating in the cleanliness drive today.

We also urge local residents of Dharamsala to kindly choose cardboard over plastic bags and do not throw kitchen garbage in plastic bags. Carry your own shopping bags of jute or cloth so as to stop the use of plastic bags.
