We have divided and focused our efforts into four areas, or sections:

• Education Section  Language classes and scholarships
• HealthCare Section  Clinic, homecare nurses, blood donations
• Clinic For Dogs Section  Clinic, rabies vaccination, dog population control
• Social Development Section  Sponsorships, financial assistance

In order to continue our work, we are in need of, and searching for, corporate/major sponsors for each of our sections/projects.

When Tibetans first set their foot on Indian soil as refugees in 1959, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and late Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, emphasized the need to set up schools for the young Tibetans so that they can become useful citizens of a future Tibet. Separate schools for the Tibetans were set up so that we can maintain our cultural identity in exile. The Department of Education under the Central Tibetan Administration looks after the overall administration of the Tibetan schools in India.

Education Section – Language, Open Basic English classes (OBE), and computer classes, scholarships, library

We, on our part, try to help the Central Tibetan Administration in improving the existing infrastructure, educational and other facilities in these schools. We have also set up our own education center so that such opportunities can be provided to those who are not eligible to seek admission in these normal schools due to their age when they reach.

Our only bottleneck is funding, more funds will go directly to the students/scholars. On average, the cost to educate a student in one of our Tibet Charity class is approximately Rs. 2000 including electricity costs, rent costs of the center, textbooks, supplies, and equipment/computers.

Tibet Charity brings assistance to Tibetans by connecting them with language education. As the students who arrive here from Tibet do not speak any language other than their native language, they confront great difficulties while leading their lives in exile. So by learning English, they are in a better position to rub shoulder-to-shoulder in their quest for new lives outside their homeland.

We offer two sessions of basic language (English) proficiency to students who have never had any opportunity to go to proper school while in Tibet. The first session is from March to July and the second one is from August to November. Besides the Tibetans, we also have students coming from various Asian countries such as Thailand, Burma, Mongolia etc. We also have students from various Himalayan regions of India.

Financial efficiency matters. A charity’s ability to keep its fundraising and other overhead expenses reasonable is what determines how much of your contribution will be available to fund the charitable programs you are intending to support with your donations. Tibet Charity encourages our donors to consider a charity’s financial efficiency along with other, qualitative factors, when making their giving decisions.

Some non-profit organizations receive large donations of non-cash goods and services, which they are responsible for valuing. The dollar value a charity assigns to its non-cash donations is then mixed together with its cash revenue and expenses in its financial reporting. This often has the effect of making the nonprofit appear to be larger and operating more efficiently than it actually is.  Such inconsistencies in the reporting make it difficult to compare the financial efficiency of different non-profit organizations.

With Tibet Charity, you will find a charity you can support that has operating overhead of 25% or less. That means we spend 80 cents or more of every dollar you send on program activities and just 20 cents, or less, is spent on fund raising and administrative costs. Only a handful of charities meet this standard for efficiency. When you make a general donation we will spend the money where it is most urgently needed. Be assured that all the money you give will go straight to the people you want to help because none of the private donations made to Tibet Charity are spent on administration.
